Jesse Earl Kessinger was born on September 16, 1888 in Gueda Springs, Kansas to Sarah Amanda (Green) and Eugene Norton Kessinger. He was a fraternal twin to Cresse Kessinger. Jesse married Effie Augusta Cooper on 16 April 1916 in Wichita, KS. They were the parents of infant daughter, Floyd, Merle, J. Maxine, Jack and Charles Earl Kessinger.

Jesse and Effie resided in Oxford, Kansas, much of their married life where he was a farmer, moving to Wichita 12 years ago. Jesse worked for the Boeing Airplane Company for the last 10 years. He was a member of the Dawson Methodist Church.
