Obituary

Lucinda Jane Cooper was born April 24, 1838 in Russell county, Ky., died Sept. 5, 1911, at Belle Plaine, Kans. She was converted and united with the Church of Christ at the age of fifteen and after coming to this country united with the Church of Christ at this place, and has lived a faithful and devoted christian life.

She was married to Cal Koger in 1860. To this union three children were born of which Cullen, the oldest, departed this life in 1880. Mr. Koger died in 1867. Mrs. Jennie Van Wort, of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Alice Nye of this place were present at the funeral.

She was married to R. Griffith in 1870 and to this union 4 children were born: J. J. Griffith and Mrs. Ella Spade of Belle Plaine, Clarence Griffith of Apache, Okla., and Mrs. Florence Stewart of Wichita. Her last hours were spent in singing songs and praising God.

The funeral occurred from the Church of Christ in this city Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, where a large concourse of old friends and neighbors gathered to pay a last tribute of respect to an indulgent mother, faithful wife, devoted friend and obliging neighbor.

The services were conducted by Elder Fred Hanger, of Mulvane, Kan. The remains were laid to rest in the Belle Plaine Cemetery. Mr. Griffith and family have the sympathy of a host of friends in their sad bereavement.
