Little Sister's life was cut way too short. I heard before she was 4 years old , she loved to read and the Bible was what she loved to read the most. Every night before she went to bed, she would read a passage out of it. She knew all her A, B, C's. could name all the colors, and was loved by all that knew her..

Little Sister was the baby of the family. My mother was the oldest. She took care of her younger siblings. This made Little Sister and my mother very close. My mother made a dress for herself, in a red rose pattern. Little Sister saw it and asked her big sister (Billie) to make her one just like it. My mother went and bought the material, but she bought it in a yellow rose pattern.

Little Sister only got to show off her pretty dress a couple times. She died shortly after my mother made it for her.

Cause of death: The doctor had treated her for pneumonia. She had gotten over this and still had a cold. In addition, she had just gotten over having the measles two weeks before. Her mother, (my grandmother) had baked a cake. After she frosted the cake, Little Sister wanted to lick the pan and spoon, no one knew she was a diabetic. For 4 days, "Little Sister" was in a diabetic coma. The doctors did not know what was wrong with her, until it was too late...

The night they brought her little body back to the house, my mother stayed up all night, bathing her in an alcohol bath to keep her body from turning. They buried Little Sister in her yellow rose dress.

"Little Sister" was the last child born to James and Myrtle.
