Ryan was a well loved cat. He loved to sit and look out the window or lay and "bake" by the door. He was also a very picky eater and would only drink fresh "right out of the tap" water. Ryan was diagnosed with diabetes July 31, 2007. He was put on insulin and also had his diet changed. He did very well for about a year before he got sick again. On September 5, 2008 Ryan was diagnosed with Kidney failure which is terminal. I cried when I got the news and I weighed the pros and cons of continuing treatment or not. I decided to wait for 24 hours until he was stabilized then make my decision. Ryan's doctor called the next morning and told me I could take him home if I wanted. I decided to take his treatment as far as I could. Ryan was on subcutaneous fluids every 48 hours and he did very well. The night of September 30 I could tell Ryan wasn't right and when I saw his food still in his bowl the next morning, I knew he was worse. I called his doctor and told her I can't do this to Ryan anymore. She agreed that letting him go was the best thing. Ryan died peacefully at 5:00pm October 1, 2008.

To my Ryan:

I will miss your kind spirit.
I will miss your fluffy fur.
I will miss your gentle heart.
I will miss your playfulness..
but most important,
I will miss your love.

RIP my darling.
