Musician. Son of "The O'Jays" founder Eddie Levert and brother to Sean Levert, he came from a musical family background, with influences the likes of James Brown and Marvin Gaye. Along with brother Sean and childhood friend Marc Gordon, they formed the Grammy nominated R&B group 'LeVert'. They released their first album "I Get Hot" in 1985 to much success with six more albums to follow. In 1991 with the blessing of his bandmates, he embarked on a solo career with his first release "Private Line" which went to number one on the R&B chart with the duet "Baby Hold on to Me" being a collaboration between himself and his father. Another collaboration followed on the 1995 album "Father and Son". After his first solo release, he achieved similar success with nine more albums including "Do I Speak for the World" in 2004 which would be his last solo project. In 1997, Levert, along with Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill, formed the group 'LSG'. Their first release "Levert Sweat and Gill" was a success as well as the 2003 follow-up "LSG2". When he wasn't recording himself, he was writing and producing for other artists such as Patti LaBelle, Teddy Pendergrass and Barry White. He died of an apparent heart attack in his sleep in his Cleveland, Ohio home.
