Sophie Rodriguez Herrera was born on June 20th, 1936 in Montrose Colorado to Juan and Carmelita Rodriguez. She passed away on Sunday, January 27th 2013 at 6:10 pm in Arvada Colorado. She is survived by her daughter Valerie, and sons Albert and Steve, four grand children, Gabriel, Arianna, Michael, and Daniel and two sister's Emily Duran and Lucrecia M Rodriguez Montano and five Step-brothers.

Her Mother died when Sophie was young and her father Juan later remarried to his second wife Pauline.

She attended Montrose High School and was unable to graduate due to vision problems. However, she later recieved a GED and after continued in the field to become a licensed CNA. She was later employed with Luthern Hospital.

On September 20th, 1959 she married Lupe Herrera in Montrose Colorado. Soon after they both moved to Denver Colorado.

Once they located in Westminister Colorado, they started a family. At that time she operated an in home daycare business several years before becoming a CNA. She became very fond of children and many children came to know her as a loving, caring person of outstanding character.

Sophie was a very strong " Women of God" who never judged anyone. Nobody could ever say a bad thing about her. She had no enemies, only friends and family.

Sophie has always been dedicated to her church and was always involed with group bible studies. This is always what she looked forward too.

A few fond memories of Sophie was she earned to nick-name the Queen of Tortila Flats. That was the area of Montrose where she grew up, There were a lot of great memories, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Bronco games, and family reunions.

Sophie was my Auntie and she was the kindest there could be. I never recall her ever being angry about anything. She had this glow that shined with her beautiful smile. She treated everyone so nice. Her cooking was amazing. I will never forget her tamales. They were the best! I seen her just a couple of days before she left and I knew she was in a lot of pain, yet she was still joking around and making us laugh. One thing that stuck to my mind about what people said about her. Every one thought they were her favorite. That is how she made each and everyone feel. I was her favorite Nephew. Aunt Sophie you will always be loved and missed. What a great role model you were.

One night I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord and across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonging to me and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life had flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the paths of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at a very lowest and saddest times of my life. This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord you said that once I decided to follow you you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed you most, you would leave me."

The Lord replied " My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never never leave you during your times of trial and suffering when you saw only one set of footprints.....it was then that I carried you.

I will always love you.
