Cousin

Bridget is the daughter of the Eddie and Senida Belarde. She has one brother Michael and sisters Esther, Jerry, and the late Sandy. She also was a Mother to five, three sons, Steven, Jessie, and Chris, and two daughters, Alesha, and Angel. Bridget was my cousin. She was the same age as my sister. She use to always sleep down our house when we were kids. Her and my sister were the best of cousins. Her personality was somewhat in the middle. She wasn't loud, but she wasn't quite either. There was not a thing about her that anyone would not love about her presence. Bridget would never say anything bad about anyone. She was harmless. My loving cousin was then diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. No matter what, Bridget kept her spirts up. She wasn't able to get around like she use to and her speech was starting to slur. It was so sad to see the effect and toll it had on her. That didn't stop her from being a loving Mother and being there for others. She tried to still do things on her own. She then had a freak accident. Without realizing she was filling up her bath with hot hot water, she slipped and fell into the boiling water. Bridget suffered first and second degree burns all through out her body. She fought so hard to make it. There was times we all felt she was going to be alright. The family only was worried because she wasn't eating. About a month after the accident she passed on. The whole family was right by her side when she died. All this time I was worried about her losing her life to the disease she had, not losing her life from the way she did. In sure it led to the accident from the frame of mind she suffered. About six months before she passed the family had a get together at a park. My wife and I got into a conversation with her about having God in our lives. She really enjoyed telling us how much she loved God. Every time I pass by that park, I remember that conversation. Its a reminder to me that no matter what we have to go through, always be thankful to our heavenly father and always love him. For he has a special plan for us.
