Jane Clark Coombs, age 75, passed away on July 30, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.Y. Clark II and Dorothy James Clark and her brother J.Y. Clark III, all of Leesburg, FL. Jane was born on October 28, 1941, in Leesburg, FL, and spent her childhood there before attending Stephen's College in Columbia, MO and Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Jane taught elementary school in Jacksonville, including a number of years at Stockton Elementary. In 1986, she relocated to Leesburg, where she raised her three children and taught ages kindergarten through second grade until her retirement in 2005. She touched the lives of many children at Dabney Elementary School in 2007, then she moved back to Jacksonville to be closer to her children and enjoy her retirement. In addition to her love for teaching, Jane was passionate about painting, cooking, and mountain views. She always stayed active and particularly liked walking on the beach and collecting seashells. Jane was a dedicated mother, a loyal and trusted friend, and an active and beloved parishioner of St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg and San Jose Episcopal Church in Jacksonville. She always wore a smile on her face, no matter what. Her bravery and strong spirit shone throughout her life in the face of difficult obstacles, but never more evident than in her grace during her final battle with a difficult illness. Jane is survived by her brother George James Clark of Arlington, TX, her three children, Alice and Clark of Jacksonville and Jonathan of Ocala, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Jane will take place at San Jose Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 12, at 2 p.m., with the Reverend Steph Britt and the Reverend Gee Alexander officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Jane's name to Melanoma Cancer Research.
(Obituary from A Dignified Alternative Hatcher Cremations, Jacksonville, FL.)

Jane and her husband Charles (Dusty) were the parents of Clark Soden Coombs, Jonathan Charles Coombs, and Alice Jane Coombs.
