Daughter of Jo-Anne Lee JOHNSON (1933-2002) and Benjamin Plaisted COE.

First married Eric Scott ROYCE, in 1973, in Arlington, Virginia.

Second married Simon COOMBS; married to Coombs from 1983 to 2002.

Educated at George Mason University, University of Maryland College Park, and City University.

From 1976 to 1982, as Kathy ROYCE, she was a lobbyist for the National Rifle Association.

After marrying Mr. Coombs, she helped him to be elected to the British Parliament, representing Swindon. She then worked for the public relations firm Dewe Rogerson, on Fleet Street.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kathryn went to Tbilisi, Georgia, where she advised the first post-Soviet government during transition. She returned to politics in the USA in 1996 when she served as Acting Press Secretary for Senator Robert Dole's presidential campaign.

From 1998 onward, she operated her own film and production companies.

Funeral mass was at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Arlington, Virginia.
