Obituary
A PIONEER CITIZEN DEAD
J.W. Depriest, familiarly known as Uncle Billy, died at his home here Monday morning after a short illness. Uncle Billy was well up in age but was hale and hearty up until the time he was stricken. He came here from Vancleave neighborhood, in Jackson county many years ago, when Lucedale was in its infancy, and was a familiar figure around this section, every body knew uncle Billy and every body loved him and he will be sadly missed. He was laid to rest in the Lucedale cemetery Tuesday and the many floral offerings spoke volumes for the high regard in which he was held. He leaves a widow, three daughters, Mrs. W.P. Flurry, Mrs. Albert Solomon and Miss Leah Depriest and a number of grand children and to these the Times extends condolence.
