Gladys Harp Burdine, age 101, of Jasper, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, at the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper. She was born September 11, 1915, in Newton County, the daughter of Granville and Mary (Anthony) Harp. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Guy Burdine.

Gladys loved Bluegrass music and enjoyed spending time traveling to attend Bluegrass events. She was also an adventure-seeker and took yearly trips with her family. One trip took her all the way to Canada, and another found her having a meal at a café in a huge, hollowed out tree in Northern California. Gladys had a long and memorable life and she had many stories to share.

Gladys is survived by her son, Bob Burdine, of Shawnee, Kansas; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Brasel of Jasper, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Terry Brasel of Jasper, Tim Brasel of Bentonville, Arkansas, Denise Cook of Olatha, Kansas and Angie Bohndorf and her husband Jerrod of Shawnee, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Service was, Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Jasper Assembly of God Church with Reverends Jerry Patton and Tory Walker officiating.

Pallbearers were Terry Brasel, Tyler Brasel, Tim Brasel, Brandon Brasel, Todd Hodges and Mitchell Brasel.

Honorary pallbearers were Marilyn Campbell and the staff at Newton County Nursing Home.

Interment was in Jasper Cemetery.
