Her family decided to donate the teen's organs because Paige's grandfather died more than two decades ago while waiting for a heart transplant, said Kuersten's aunt, Jeanne Zomparelli.
Even in death Paige Kuersten is giving. Seven people are set to receive her organs, her family said Sunday
"She blessed us with a week," Paige's aunt said. "She stayed and held on to be with us."
Paige, who ran track at Marian, loved country music, baby-sat and spent her summers in Ludington, Mich., was known as "the bug" because she was so little, Jeanne Zomparelli said.
She's remembered by dozens of family and friends as a happy-go-lucky people person, her aunt said.
"She was always happy, never sad," Zomparelli said.
