His father was George Albert Armstrong Sr. and his mother, Mary Eliza (Goodwin) Armstrong.

He married Elvira Buchanan 20 July 1917 Spokane, Spokane County, Washington. He was age 25 and she was age 27 divorced. She was born Montana and working as a waitress. Her father was W. Buchanan and her mother, Louise (Hatfield) Buchanan.

He was working as a Barber when he married.

During WWI he joined the United States Army and was in the 166 Dept. Brig 35th Company. He died while in the service from pneumonia at Ft. Lewis, WA.
