German Reformed Minister of the Salem Reformed Church in Menno, SD. He died after a storm damaged the chimney of the parsonage and it fell on him. He was one of the first seven ministers from the Lutheran synod of Ohio that later became Heidelburg University. He married Augusta Florentine Droege. They had three daughters Anna, Sophie, and Helena. Sophie died in infancy.
Anna married Reverend John Looser a seminary student of her father, and Helena married Reverend Eduard Scheidt also a seminary student of their father.
His son In-law Reverend Eduard Scheidt took over for him after his death. He is buried in the family plot of one of his church members in the Menno cemetery, located on the corner of Park street and Douglas street in Menno, South Dakota.
