BROWN, Lee – {from The Springdale News} Spring Creek Correspondent; - It is our sad duty to record the death of our neighbor John Brown's boy, Lee, who was accidentally shot by his sister, Maud, on Monday evening, the ball from the rifle passing through or near his heart ending his young life almost instantly.

{from The Bentonville News} Last Monday the fourteen year old boy of Mr. John Brown, who lives near Spring Creek church, was shot and killed by his twelve year old sister. The two children went out to pick dewberries, the boy carrying a gun with him. His mother objected till the boy promised it was not loaded nor would not be loaded. At the dewberry patch the little girl picked up the gun from where the boy had lain it and snapped it at her brother, thinking it was not loaded, with the result that a full charge of shot entered the boy's body, killing him instantly.
