Johann Peter Frey Jr. (went by Peter) probably used his middle name since he had three brothers also had the first name of Johann and thus used their middle names--Valentine, Christian and George (thus, he will be referred to as Peter in this discussion).

Peter was born at Wingen, Alsace, Bas-Rhin in what is now France.

He emmigtated to the American Colonies with his parents and siblings, arriving at the port of Philadelphia on August 17th, 1733 abord the Ship Samual, which had sailed from Rotterdam.

Peter married Catharina Walk on 23 May 1756 at Friedberg, then in Rowan County, but now on the border of Forsyth and Davidson Counties, North Carolina. Peter was a farmer and died in the Friedberg vicinity.

Peter was a Tory/Loyalist siding with the British Crown during the Revolution, as were his brothers George & Christian. The Rowan County, North Carolina, Court Minutes of the year 1778 listed them among 577 persons who "refused or neglected" to take the Oath of Allegiance to the State. Meaning that they were loyal, either passively or actively, to England, rather than to North Carolina or the United States. (In Rowan Country roughly one out of five were Loyalists/Tories. )

Peter and Catharina were the parents of eleven known children, six girls and five boys.
