Mr. Gillett was a farmer and in addition represented agricultural farm machinery, fertilizer and other concerns. He was highly regarded in the community.
He was a Republican in politics. He served the town as highway superintendent and from 1905 to 1936 was a justice of the peace.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Cordelia Gillett; a son, Charles Gillett; a grandson, Emmett Gillett, and several cousins. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Summerhill Baptist Church, Rev. Victor Kane of Cortland will officiate.
