E. Gordon Gillette, 91, of Lake Como Road, Summerhill, N.Y. died Feb. 22, 2005 in the Groton Nursing Home after a short illness.
Mr. Gillette was born Jan. 16, 1914, in Summerhill, the son of the late Edward G. and Hila Smith Gillette.
He was a long time resident of Summerhill where he owned and operated a dairy farm on Lake Como Road until his retirement. Then he and his wife, the former Marion Darrow moved to Millstream Court in Moravia and following her death in October 2000 Mr. Gillette had lived at the Groton Nursing Facility.
Mr. Gillette was a member of the Gideon's International and the Summerhill Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Thomas Gillette of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren, Bradford and Sean Gillette both of Seattle, Wash., Amy Castrovinci of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Joanne Tinker of Homer; two sisters, Gertrude (Bill) Bachellor of Summerhill and Dorothy Owen of Somers Point, N.J.; one brother, Joseph (Bernice) Gillette of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by a son, David Gillette in 1981 and a grandson, Christopher Thomas Gillette in 1984.
Services will be held April 23, 2005 in the Summerhill Baptist Church at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in the West Homer Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Gideon's, American Diabetes Association or the Summerhill Baptist Church.
