MILES, Alfred Henry, 78, died at his home here Monday evening.

He was born in Charlotte on July 3, 1884, the son of Alfred and Anna (Barton) Miles. He attended the New Haven Congregational Church. He was a member of Patricia Lodge, F&AM 587, GRC, Toronto, Canada; Potter Chapter 22, RAM, Middlebury; Mount Calvary Commandery 1, Knights Templar, Middlebury; Cairo Temple, AAONMS, Rutland; Elbon Shrine Club, Middlebury; Oreac Club, Rutland.

Mr. Miles was also a past patron of Libanus Chapter 47, Bristol, and past district deputy grand patron, District 11.

He moved to Bristol in 1933 where he operated a watch repair shop for 10 years. Previous to that time he had worked for 17 years at Ryrie Burke Company in Toronto, Canada. He also was with the J. Herbert Hall, jewelers, in Pasadena, Calif., for several years.

Since 1950, he had operated his own business in New Haven and also restored many antique clocks.

Mr. Miles leaves his wife, Mrs. Gladys (McFarland) Miles; one daughter, Mrs. Fay (Peggy) Washburn of Richmond; three grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Cough [sic] of East Charlotte, Mrs. Calla VanVliet of Burlington, and Mrs. [sic] Caroline Miles of Burlington, also several nieces and nephews.
