Joseph Raphael Warren, 84, Niota, died early Tuesday morning in a Loudon hospital.

A native of North Carolina, he was the son of the late Pinkney and Martha Trull Warren. He was a well-known retired farmer of McMinn County and was a member of the Rocky Spring Methodist Church in Meigs County.

Surviving, wife, Mrs. Samme Hutsell Warren; two daughters, Mrs. T. H. Carpenter and Mrs. Millard Skelton, all of Niota; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Evans-Smith Funeral Home with the Revs. Murray Brown and Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery. The body is in state at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Wednesday night.

Evans-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
