Wilma E. Clawson, 96, of Blairsville, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana. She was born July 19, 1912 in Tarentum, a daughter of the late William and Nora Marshall Noel. Wilma was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary, organist, historian, custodian and groundskeeper. She was a 1931 graduate of Blairsville High School. She also was an avid gardener with a love of spring flowers, especially Narcissus. She is survived by her son, Larry and wife Jan, Homer City; three grandchildren, Leisa (Clawson) Noel, Blairsville, Curtis Clawson and Darla (Clawson) Forsha, both of Huntingdon; step-grandchild Michael Steele, Silver Springs, Md; eight great-grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Larry Clawson Sr., in 1987; sisters Jeanne (Noel) Murray, Dorothy Noel and Aline Noel; and brothers W. Gail Noel and Donald Noel. Friends were received Tuesday at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville. A funeral service was held Wednesday at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Blacklick Township, with the Rev. Jason L. McQueen officiating. Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery, Blacklick Township.
