Opera Singer. One of the most well known baritones in Opera in Europe, he came to American in 1874. His fame in American was such that he was one of the performers on the opening night of the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1883. When he died he was buried in a grave that was unmarked until 1964, when local Philadelphia opera enthusiasts discovered it and erected a fitting monument.
