Born in Cranbrook, England, Mr. Breeds came to this country in 1906, settling in the Cortland area where he lived until moving to the Town of Conquest in 1935.
He was a farmer all his life.
He and his wife, Nellie Branch Breeds, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Dec. 22, 1971. They were honored as the longest married couple in the Town of Conquest during the town's sesquicentennial celebration last summer.
Surviving beside his wife are seven daughters, Mrs. John Kurtnacker and Mrs. Edwin Harris, both of Baldwinsville; Mrs. Irving Phelps of Locke, Mrs. Seth Thornton of Moravia, Mrs. George Hollenback of Little York, Mrs. Herman Thornton of Homer and Mrs. Ronald Brazo of Lisle; a brother, James Breeds of Moravia; a sister, Mrs. Lily Whatman of Ithaca, 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jewell Funeral Home, Cato, the Rev. Ralph Williamson of Countryside Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Conquest Cemetery.
