Angela Rosensteel Eckert, of Gettysburg, departed this life December 17, 2008.

She was the daughter of the late George D. and Emily G. (Minnich) Rosensteel.

Mrs. Eckert was a 1937 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Emmitsburg, MD. She and her family owned and operated The Gettysburg National Museum and Electric Map for many years. She was the last remaining connection to the Rosensteel family who donated so many Civil War artifacts to the Gettysburg Visitor's Center that are yet to be put on display.

She was a lifelong member and benefactor of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg. She was very active in church activities including Girl Scouts, 40 hours diner for the clergy, and the National Council of Women.

She was the wife of Lawrence H. Eckert, Jr., who died in 2007, and surviving are her daughter, Pamela Eckert Jones and husband, Dr. Walton C. Jones of Gettysburg; two sons, Lawrence H. Eckert, III and Richard P. Eckert , both of Gettysburg; five grandchildren, Christopher Eckert and wife, Rachel Holsinger of Lexington, KY, Kimberly Eckert of Dover, Capt. David W. Jones and wife, Heather of Owings Mills, MD, Ryan C. Jones and wife, Amy of Hanover, and Andrea Jones Sieg and husband, Josh of Hanover; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Waits, Lydia Slusser, and Riley Walton Sieg; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by a brother, Joseph Rosensteel.
