Samuel Rupp Andrews, born June 16, 1835 [calculated from a stated age at death of 80-11-24] the son of Jacob & Louisa C. (Rupp) Andrews and husband of Barbara (Kissinger) Andrews.

In 1860, he was a shoemaker living in York Borough, York County. He died in his home in Mt. Holly Springs, Cumberland County.

He enlisted in York August 26, 1861, and mustered into federal service there September 11 as a private with Co. A, 87th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was captured at Petersburg, Virginia, June 23, 1864, and incarcerated at Lynchburg, Andersonville, and Millen prisons. Paroled at Jacksonville, Florida, April 28, 1865, and honorably discharged June 11, 1865.
