Tom Coffman
Sept. 24, 1922 – May 11, 2011
There will be a celebration of life for Tom Coffman, 88, of Myrtle Point, at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in the Oaks Pavillion at the Coos County Fairgrounds., 900 Fourth St., Myrtle Point.

Thomas Edward Coffman came into the world on Sept. 24, 1922, in Milton, the son of Floyd and Millie Coffman. He died May 11, 2011.

Tom spent his youth living on the family farm in northeastern Oregon until he went to college at Eastern Oregon College in La Grande. It was in college that he met the love of his life, Jean. He and Mom started their life together six months later. That life, for Dad, included farming, working in a sawmill and starting a business in 1958 along with Mom.

He loved the challenge of growing their business of manufacturing arrow shafts. He loved flying his airplane, he loved being on the school board, and he loved serving his Heavenly Father.

Dad's other treasure was his family. He was father to Janis Melton, Linda Holland, Becky Starr, Jodi Bouska, Carl Coffman, and Jill Halliburton; a grandfather to 17; a great-grandfather to 21 and looking for two more little strangers, as Dad would say.

He was a strong father who showed his love by being a good role model, by providing for us, protecting us, and by loving our mom. He and Mom, who survives, had a love affair that lasted 67 years.

If you would like to make a donation, you would honor Dad by giving to the reunion grounds at Camp Remote. Make contributions to Becky Starr, 255 N. Folsom, Coquille, OR 97423 with the notation of: Camp Remote.

Arrangements are under the direction of Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service – Myrtle Point Chapel, 541-572-2524.
