Ravi Lucas DeFilippo our gentle spirit, was taken from us on August 1, 2010 in a mining accident near Mount Toromocho, Peru. He was a native Tucsonan and cum laude graduate of Arizona State University who found his passion as a geologist.

Ravi was our best friend; he was intelligent, thoughtful, hilarious and loving. A fierce CDO football and ASU rugby player, he was also a team captain, rock climber, world traveler and leader. He will be remembered for his bear hugs, his dance moves and his amazing advice. Ravi's kind soul, infectious smile and passion for life will forever be an inspiration to those lucky enough to have known him. He was, simply, the best man ever.

He leaves behind his parents, Mary and Art; his twin Makko and new sister, Kathryn and his older brother, Wyan. His friends and family around the world – in Mexico, Spain, Chile, Australia and elsewhere – will keep him in their hearts forever. Nunca te olvidaremos, Ravi; siempre estarás en nuestros corazones.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene, 500 W. Calle Concordia, Tucson, AZ.

Memorial donations can be made to the ASU Foundation for the Ravi DeFilippo Geology Field Camp Scholarship. Checks can be sent to the ASU Foundation, School of Earth and Space Exploration, Attn. Ravi DeFilippo Scholarship, PO Box 871404, ASU, Tempe, AZ 85287.
