Billy "Don" Barngrover, 69, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, in Stillwater.
Services, with Pastor Jerry D. Dockery officiating, were Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Strode Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment was at 3:30 p.m. in Ridgelawn Cemetery
in Collinsville under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
Barngrover was born in Shawnee Sept. 1, 1932, to William Lester and Mary Lockey (Bacchus) Barngrover. He grew up in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School. In 1955, he graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in geology.
After graduation, he was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant and was stationed in Germany until 1960.
From 1960 until 1988, he was employed as a geologist administrative officer with the USDA Soil Conservation Service. After retirement, he spent full time with
his woodworking hobby. He enjoyed traveling and geology.
He married Rose Marie Wolf in Kitzingen, Germany, Jan. 23, 1959. They later divorced.
On Nov. 6, 1992, he married Donna Ferguson in Las Vegas, Nev.
Barngrover was a member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by one son, Don Christian Barngrover and his wife Tiffani of Altus; three daughters, Judi Kastl and her husband Dennis and Tanya Pangborn and her husband Paul, all of Stillwater, and Sonya Bishop and her husband David of Garland, N.C.; four grandchildren, Randi Barngrover, Trevor Pangborn, Clinton Gage Barngrover and Mattie Marie Bishop;
and one sister, Mrs. Bill (Margie) Funderburk of Houston, Texas.
Pallbearers were R.C. "Bob" Honeycutt, Bennie Trout, Greg Fox, Don Rose, Lee Bell and Ray Campbell.
