We lost our little Shih Tzu "Peanut" monday 6/29/2009 and I picked up his ashes today, friday 7/3/2009. All that 20 lbs. of adorable in such a little tiny box.
It's so strange how you are still careful that you don't step into the water bowl that is no longer there; or eating supper and he's not there sitting looking at us....waiting.
He was so sweet and liked to cuddle. He was more daddy's boy, where Missy was mommy's girl. He would always sit waiting for something to take place. He liked to help mow and bring in groceries. He'd walk along side you while you did these things. He loved to go for walks, he loved when I pulled out a vegetable peeler because it meant he would get snacks. We would go up to him while he had his favorite blue monster in his mouth and as we got closer his tail would go up and wag and when we backed off his tail would go down. He hated riding in the car. Our Missy Marie was a leader and Peanut was a follower.
He had many nicknames, Butter's,(which my Michelle called him) Buddy, Little Mansy, P, and Tiny E. (he would scrunch up his lips like Elvis sometimes).
Monday afternoon he was taking a nap and woke up screaming......I can't get that sound out of my mind, I don't think I ever will. We rushed him to the hospital. What had happenned was sort of like an aneurism behind his eye and it filled up with blood and he was going to lose his eye. They also said there was a little glitch with his kidneys. Missy had renal problems too.
We saw him as he was given pain medicines and the vet. told us to go home and she'd let us know updates. I told her to put him down he was feeling so bad. We went back to the hospital and they had him wrapped in a blanket, we went into a waiting room and we got to say our goodbyes. When we get his ashes he will be put in the yard next to Missy.
Everything happenned so fast, yet some of it seemed like it was going in slow motion. Missy just slowed down and we knew it'd be coming soon, but this went from playing and taking a nap to screaming.
I do not want any more pets. EVER! I don't know how people can go through this over and over again.
I'm just glad that there's a place that he will be remembered and there's so many people that show their kindness to me and my family. Thank you for being you.
