Anna was born in Rabild (or Rebild), near Aalborg, Denmark, on May 3, 1891. Starting at an early age, she was a "goose girl," tending the flocks on the dairy farm.
She was living in Volsted, Denmark, near Aalborg, when she left for the United States, arriving with an Immigration Visa at Port Huron, Michigan, on September 24, 1909. She was a Third Class passenger on the White Star Line steamship "Laurentic." Traveling with her were Miss Christine Simonsen, Andrew Simonsen, and Miss Frederika Klausen. They boarded the ship at Esbjerg, on the west coast of Denmark.
She and Klaus Klausen were married in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 12, 1910, by the Rev. H.S. Church.
