Steve Atchley, 54, of Leavenworth, Kansas, died November 21, 2008. Steve was born on April 20, 1954 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of John R. and Marilyn L. (Wilkey) Atchley. He graduated in 1972 from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee, Kansas. Following high school, Steve joined the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam conflict. He was employed by Kansas City Kansas Community College where he worked for over 25 years and leaves many friends and co-workers. He married Tammie Shields on March 23, 1981. Steve is survived by daughter, Amber Sharkey (Tom), grandson, Thomas Joseph and granddaughter, Stevie Sue, daughter, Angela Atchley, daughter, Amie Fitz (Chuck), daughter, Tanya Gourd (Jeff) and grandsons Chase and Korbyn. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by brother, John R. Atchley (Dianna) of Spokane, Washington, and sisters; Pam Bradshaw (Allen) and Patricia Atchley, both of Topeka, KS. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home 701 N. 94th Street, KCK.
