He was the son of Virgil Allen and Dottie Jackson Allen Brant. He graduated from Atoka High School and later joined the United States Navy in 1971, and was trained in explosives with the Marine Corp. He served two tours in Vietnam, once during wartime, and was there when the war ended, and once on a peace keeping tour of duty. He married Lucy Lee Marco on April 3, 1974, in McAlester, where they made their home. After leaving the service, he worked for the city of McAlester and then with Pittsburg County District No. 3. He became a member of the McAlester Police Department in April 1981 and retired as a shift lieutenant on June 1, 2003, because of his health, having served 22 years in law enforcement. He was a member of Frink Baptist Church, was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed tending to his cattle. Survivors include his wife, Lucy Allen, of the home; his mother, Dottie Brant, of McAlester; a sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Gene Yates, of McAlester. Also, two nieces, Shelly Yates and Crystal Yates; five nephews, Heath Marco, Dusty Marco and wife, Rachael, Alex Marco and wife, Melissa, Stephen Marco and Frank Marco. And, two brothers-in-law and spouses, Andy and Anna Marco, of McAlester, and Frank and Jennie Marco, of Tannehill; a sister-in-law, Nora Marco, of McAlester, and three special friends, Sue Cloyd, of McAlester, Wendal Henry, of McAlester, and Henry Traut, of McAlester. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Homer Brant; a special niece, Heather Marco, and his father, Virgil E. Allen. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Frink Baptist Church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
