Parke "Pete" D. Colbert of Paradise, CA passed away on August 19, 2015. He was born June 29, 1934 in Merced, CA.
Parke spent his career as foreman/supervisor for Asplundh/Davey Tree Service where his skills and experience were highly respected.

After retirement, he proudly became a spokesman for the Butte County Library Adult Literacy Program. At the age of 55, he became a student, learning to read with the assistance of tutors from the Butte County Library. He was very proud of his accomplishments and touched many lives sharing his story.

He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Backer of Fort Collins, CO; nephew, Bill (Teri) Colbert of Chico, CA. He is also survived by one additional niece; three nephews; and one step-daughter (Betsy).

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gordon Colbert; brothers, Morris and Harley "Buzz" Colbert.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Ponderosa Mobile Estates Clubhouse, 6656 Pentz Rd, Paradise, CA on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete's memory may be made to Butte County Library, Literacy Services 530-538-7198.
