Age 10 months,disaster struck on November 19 when she suffered horrific injuries when showered with boiling water,she suffered 95% burns when boiling water poured into her cot when a tank in the attic exploded at her council home in Taunton,Somerset.Rhianna was scalded on only the second night the family had spent in their council house.Her parents heard a loud bang in her room,and found boiling water pouring from pipes on the child's cot.Her father Mathew Hardie suffered burns to his hands and arms as he pulled Rhianna from the cot.Rhianna died in Bristol Children's Hospital 23 days after the accident.On December 21,Rhianna's coffin was carried through the centre of Taunton in a glass-fronted carriage drawn by two white horses,as part of a funeral fit for a princess.
