Ryan was preceeded in death by his grandfathers Eugene Gilliam 1949 and Walter H. Mandleco Sr.1969 Grandmother Lydia (nee) Klaus Mandleco 1987. Ryan entered our lives on November 16th 1974 and was 9 pds and 21 inches long at 9:17 a.m., he is the first born son of Wayne and Lynnette (nee) Mandleco Gilliam, brother to Aaron Wayne Gilliam. Ryan was reading and writing at the age of 3 1/2. When I would leave him in the bowling alley nursery he was teaching all the kids to write, funny thing is, it was his name they all learned to write. Ryan graduated from VOTEC High School in Henderson Nevada June 1993. He was studiing architecture and welding. He was fabulous at both. He was suposed to go to the Aztec architecture institute in Phoenix Arizona, but a friend talked him out of it, something he did regret and then just before he passed, he was talking about going back to school for that degree, since he had several credits towards it. He was married August 31, 2000 to Ranee L. Martinelli and stepfather to Austin Robert, who he dearly loved with all of his heart. He was a manager for Ahern Rentals in Henderson at the time of this death. At the age of 24 he bought his first home and in 1999 bought his first new car, with no help from us. We were and are so proud of what he achieved in his short, brief life here on earth. He is loved by many Missed by all, he was a precious gift from God. Ryan was baptized Luthern in San Diego, Ca. Feb 23, 1975. Ryan was a kind and gentle person, who grew into a wonderful man, one we are so very proud of, he was a hard worker. He loved to draw and his dream was to become an architect. Ryan loved the out doors and was an avid rock collector. He loved the southwest and finding Indian pottery sherds. Ryan played soccor in Rock Springs Wyo. and So San Fran California. He also loved basketball and Michael Jordon. When we first moved to Vegas from Califoria, everyone he worked with would refer to him as "Hollywood". In fact he bought so many clothes of Michael Jordons they refered to him at Dodge Ridge Sport shop in Sonora Ca. as Mr. Jordon.Another of his dearest friends was Doug Comer who he met in 9th grade and mentored him throught he new school he was going through, they became close fast friends, Doug Comer was another kid that Ryan loved like a brother. They did alot of things together and Doug was one of the nicest young kids. He helped Ryan get aquainted with Columbia Elem. school and middle school in California. That is when a great friendship began between the two of them. He was a great older brother, and friend to Aaron. While I was pregnant with his little brother whom he wanted to name Louie, he would read to me "Donald Ducks Toy Sailboat" that and he would make me peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.I had gotten an infection in the vein of my leg and had to stay down for almost a week. That is a time I will always treasure. He was not perfect, but who is. He had many friends he chose very wisely, of all ages and races, two of his closest friends and mentors were Steve Hoffman, his boss and Michael Zebriski his brother in law and bestman. When Ryan was 18 he went to work for Ahern rental company here in Las Vegas. When he first started there he was refered to as "Hollywood" as we came from California. He drove 18 wheelers for Ahern rentals. We moved to Illinois in 1996 and he hated it there and he decided he wanted to come back to Vegas, so at age 22 he packed up his things and moved back by himself and started life as a bachelor. He said the hardest thing besides leaving us his family there was to hang up the keys to the 55 Chevy Pickup he drove for 5 years. Oh how he loved that old stove pipe as his friends called it. He and some buddies decided to give each other nicknames, Ryan was given B.C. because he had liked the big chasseys on remote control cars. I always had thought it was due to his 6'3" size and 14 size shoe. But at his service I learned where it really came from, his love for the big chasseys on remote control cars. He never judged people. He was one of my best friends. He was a good listener and he taught me alot on patience. He was a man of good character and moral means. I am so proud he was one of two wonderful and beautiful blessings given to us. Just having him in our lives was wonderful. He has left us with many, many wonderful memories. Like the nestea plunge at age 3 in the sand face first. And the time he( at 14)said his pellet gun was empty and so he shot himself in the palm of his hand. That is how he met one of his best friends in Columbia Ca., David's dad was the town doctor. Then there was the tale of the mystery rock that just flew out of the sky and went threw his dad's work truck window. He could not lie, his eye would twitch and he finally owned up to it. He could comfort and soothe a person in pain, as he did when he was 12 and my mom was dying of cancer. For a 12 year old child to care so much was very touching, he said mom you can cry on my shoulder it's okay, I don't mind. He gave of himself to others, and asked nothing in return, other than friendship.I his mom felt a great HONOR to have been blessed by the gift of him. At Ryan's memorial service one of his best friends and brother-in-law Mike Zebriski, came up to our family and "thanked" us for giving Ryan to all of them. It is a moment in time I will never forget.I remember when he was a baby, I would sing Sunshine on my shoulders to him by John Denver and he would stop crying. He grew up to love country music and Garth Brooks. His favorite song was "The Dance", and the new song by Kenny Chesney "Who you'd be today", they really speak volumes of his life..Though he was only here for a short time, his time with us will always be precious, treasured and never forgotten. My precious son, we will see each other again some day.The day you passed a little of me went with you, and a huge hole in my heart it will never be filled. Ryan loved NASCAR especially Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhart one of his good friends Chris Trickle who was killed by a drive by shooting in 1999 will also be missed. He loved to ride the three wheelers we had, trouble is he never rode it on the three wheels it was always on two. Ryan played soccer in Wyo and in San Fran Calif.Ryan is the Grandson of a former Race car Driver Walter Mandleco, who also drove Sprint cars, and owned a dragster in the 1960's and was a USAC mechanic at Indy and all over the midwest. His grandfather was an explosives engineer at the time of his death. Ryan and his brother Aaron never knew him. His other grandfather Bob Carter raced boats, and owned a moving and storage company in Northern Calif. called Shasta Transfer and Storage for United Vanlines. If any one would like to view the website set up for Ryan by his younger brother Aaron, in his honor please go to Ryan's Memorial.I know that as long as I am on this earth you will never be forgotten. I promise this to you my sweet son.

Since Heaven has become your home
I sometimes feel I'm so alone;
and though we now are far apart
you hold a big piece of my heart.

I never knew how much I'd grieve
when it was time for you to leave,
or just how much my heart would ache
from that one fragment you would take.

God lets this tender hole remain
reminding me we'll meet again,
and one day all the pain will cease
when He restores this missing piece

He'll turn to joy my every tear
when once again meet someday.

To our beautiful Son,
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone
A part of us went with you
The day god took you home
A million times we've missed you,
A million times we've cried
If love could have saved you,
You never would have died.

From Ryan to all.
I'd like the memory of me, to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
of Happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun
of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
This beautiful soul we named Ryan entered our lives on Saturday November 16th 1974 at 9:17 am. He made us proud in those short but lovely days. He was called home to our Lords house on March 14, 2001 at 5:35 p.m and I wish I had been there for him. He had a wonderful and yet old soul that still lingers daily with me.
A special thank you to Dennis Deel for sponsoring this page for my dear son.
cause of death, congestive heartfailure due to a virus and hypokelemia (severly low potassium levels) Ryan left behind a wife and son, one brother Aaron and his parents Lynnette and Wayne gilliam along with several cousins and aunts and uncles. He is Uncle to BRooklynn Ryann GIlliam.

Just because you cannot see me,
does not mean I an not there.
Just because I am in heaven,
does not mean I do not care.

I often see you crying,
you often say my name,
I want to hold you tight,
I want to ease your pain.

It's easy for me,
for I know heaven is real,
If you knew the truth,
how much better would you feel.

One day we will meet again,
but only when the time is right,
when you step out of the darkness,
I will be standing in the light.

"In Loving Memory" message reads:
"Picture me as I was, full of life and love. Although not with you now, I'm watching from above. I know how much you miss me, and I miss you too. It was my time to leave, as each of us will do. When you yearn for comfort, look here at my smile, Talk to me, remember me, sit with me awhile. Time will heal your heart
