Walter was a Chicago police officer and later an explosives engineer. He was a 32 degree Mason and a Shriner with AL Barr Temple and a member of the Scottish Rite of San Diego. He was also a race car driver, a USAC mechanic & raced midgets though out the Mid west. He served with the US Marines during WWII, enlisted a second time during the war and was a drill instructior at Cherry Point South Carolina. His career was with the Atomic Energy Commission and he worked with Eisenstein, Von Braun and Enrico Fermi on many things at the University of Chicago. He worked at Los Alamos, White Sands Missile range and at The Nevada Test Site. He also worked at Kirkland Air Force Base and China Lake NOTS. My dad did a lot of work at JPL and when he passed he was employed by Maxwell Labs. In San Diego California. Cause of death suicide.
