Catherine E. (Nee) Doty, 89 died April 21, 2010, at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH.

Nana was born on September 11th, 1920, in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Colman J. and Katherine (Donovan) Nee. She was the oldest of 3 children and the last surviving of her siblings.

Nana was a strong minded woman who was extremely proud of her job during WWII while waiting for Grandpa to come back home again from the war. They were married after he returned in 1945 and they went on to raise 8 children together.

They owned a house in Winthrop, Mass. on the beach (which they would proudly tell you was a former lighthouse home). After they left Winthrop they moved to the north country of New Hampshire.

About 10 years ago they moved to Henniker and enjoyed time surrounded by friend's and family. Nana and Grandpa's house was always open and I remember many nights during summer break all of the kids and Nana playing Rummy until it was long past anyone's bedtime. She would always look at your cards and if she saw you needed a card she had to win she would say, 'You need this card, kid' and give it to you.

Her favorite thing to say to anyone in the family was, 'Who loves you baby?' and she would follow it up with a huge kiss on the cheek.

When I took my husband to New Hampshire to meet my family she asked him if his Grandparents were still alive. He told her his Grandparents had all passed away and without missing a beat Nana threw her arms around him and said, 'Well, I guess you get to have a Grandma again'.

Nana and Grandpa worked perfectly together and always used the other in a joke whenever possible.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 Years, Arthur W. Doty Sr. (Gumpa) of Henniker, NH. She is also survived by her five sons, Arthur Doty Jr. of Sudbury, Mass., Richard Doty (Jean) of Deltona, FL.; Vincent Doty of Deerfield Beach, FL.; Stephen Doty (Linda) of Portland, Ore., Robert Doty (Louise) of Quincy, Mass.; and her three daughters, Catherine M. Doty, of Henniker, Regina M. Corrigan (Mark) of Jefferson and Theresa M. Reynolds (Bob) of Dalton.

She will always be loved and remembered fondly by her 11 Grandchildren and her "Extra Grandchildren". She was also fondly loved by her 10 great-grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews, her former daughter-in-law Aznive and the many friends she made over her lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her 2 brothers, Coleman "Coley", and Bill; and her sister-in-law, Mary.

A celebration of her life was held on Saturday April 24th, 2010 in Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Henniker.

No matter what, if Nana ever heard you say Goodbye to her she would immediately correct you and say, 'It's never goodbye, only see you later'. Nana would have been very proud to know she left this world surrounded by all the love she gave to it.

Thank you Nana for showing us that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to in this life and to never give up. You were a best friend to many people, and I will always cherish everything you said to me, and sent to me, for the rest of my life. Love you always.
