Ray E. "Rocky" Blyler Sr., 86, Duncansville, died Sunday evening, March 16,2014, at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System in Oakland after a brief illness.
He was born June 3, 1927, in Gaysport, Hollidaysburg, son of the late Harry H. and Mae (Worley) Blyler. He married Audrey J. Walters on August 3, 1973, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage; a daughter, Victoria Moist and husband, Stan, of Harrisburg; three sons: Richard and Ray E. Jr., both of Hollidaysburg, and John R. of Carlisle; two grandsons: Bradley and Brandon; three great-grandchildren: Eva, Aslan and Levi; and a brother, Rudy F. and wife, Betty, of Gettysburg.
Rocky served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He retired as the owner and operator of Rocky's Plumbing, Hollidaysburg, and after retirement, he helped at Shelco Seafood for 12 years. He formerly attended Grace Bible Church and was a life member of the Phoenix Volunteer Fire Company, where he organized the Marching Unit. In 2009, he served as the Hollidaysburg Grand Parade Marshal.
Rocky enjoyed helping people.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a fireman's memorial service will be held at 5:45 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. by Pastor John D. Leatherman. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
