Henry Bickel, an old citizen of the county and veteran of the civil war, died at his home, 809 Twenty-ninth street, at 10:05 last night, of dysentery. He was born in Indiana county 68 years ago, coming to Hollidaysburg in 1860 where he was for many years employed as a furnaceman. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he enlisted in Col. William G. Murray's regiment, the Eighty-fourth, and fought gallantly to the close of hostilities, participating in most of the greatest engagements. He has been a resident of this city for the past five years and was a faithful member of the Broad Avenue Methodist Episcopal church. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Miss Rebekah, and two sons, one of whom is in the United States army, and the other works at the Franklin Forge; also by one brother, John Bickel of Armstrong county. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
