Bicknell, Utah - Elbert Jed "Bert" McDonald, age 80, died August 17, 2013 at his home in Bicknell, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born March 14, 1933 in Rains, Carbon County, Utah, a son of Jed and Hannah Grace Jenkins.

He graduated from Carbon County High School and attended the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois.

He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army.

Bert married Iris Brinkerhoff October 28, 1960 in Price, Utah.

Bert is survived by his wife of Bicknell; children: Margaret and Van Bennett of Bethel, Vermont; Frances and Mike Van Duren of Riverton; Gordon and Kriston McDonald of Copperton; four grandsons: Broch and Alex Van Duren; Colton and Duston McDonald; brothers and sister: Brian and Eleanor McDonald of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Shirley Mickey of Ogden; Mark and Georgia McDonald of Lander, Wyoming; Glen and Ann McDonald of Cody, Wyoming; a sister-in-law: Marva McDonald of Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jed and Hannah McDonald, and a brother, Doug McDonald.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.

Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
