Thomas "Tom" Doherty
Tom Doherty, 70, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Methodist Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at McLaren's Chapel with a private burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
Tom was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to West Des Moines in 1959. In the early 70's he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah for 30 years before returning to Des Moines where he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Tom served his country in the U.S Marines and later in the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Doherty and son, Patrick Doherty, both of West Des Moines, daughter, Jennifer Kent of Tucson, Arizona; four grandchildren, Hannah and Megan Baysinger, Holli and Austin Kent; and his ex-wife and good friend, Kathy Doherty of West Des Moines.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McLaren's Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Tom's family for a future memorial.
