David L. Hutton, 72, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011. Mr. Hutton was born Sept. 11, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Cecil and Dovie Elliott Hutton. He attended school in Richmond and Lexington, then after college, taught in Cleveland, Ohio, and in Kansas City, MO at Paseo High School. He retired on June 13, 1995, after 30 years of service with the Kansas City School District. He was a member of Ward Chapel AME in Richmond, then joined Bethel AME in Kansas City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Jr. and Herman; and a sister, Beatrice. Survivors include: a niece, Katherine Williams, Kansas City; great-nephews, Ralph Price, Liberty, and Corey Price and Rance Williams, both of Richmond; and cousins, Roger Elliott and Georgia Mae Davis, both of Richmond, William L. Elliott, Betty Smith, Kathy Bell, Mike Stewart and Donnie Stewart, all of Kansas City, and John Stewart, Los Angeles, Calif. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, at Bethel AME Church in Kansas City, with Pastor Stephen Booker officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel AME Church Building Fund, 2329 Flora Ave., Kansas City.
