Elmo L. Cracraft 1921 ~ 2011 Elmo LeGrand Cracraft, the last surviving child of Francis and Jensine Cracraft, passed away August 1st, 2011 in Murray, Utah. Elmo was born September 9th 1921 in Bountiful, Utah. A veteran of the Army National Guard and Navy, he was the youngest of five brothers to volunteer for service during World War II. He also served during the Korean War as a Drill Sergeant.
He married Estella Walbom in 1947 and they had four children together. They divorced in 1964. He retired from Western Electric installation in 1983.
He loved ballroom dancing, working in his yard, hot rods and puzzles. He could do 80 push-ups at the age of 76 and was physically active up until the age of 88.
He is survived by his sons, Art (Nikki), Dan and Allen; his daughter, Artelle Gleason; his step-son, Ron Roper; eight grandchildren; and 12 (soon to be 13) great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Henry Sorensen; and brothers, Francis, Wilford, Don, Alvin and Arthur.
Graveside services will be at Camp Williams (Utah Veterans Memorial Park) on Friday, August 5th at 12 Noon located at 17111 S. Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale. A brief viewing for family and friends will be from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Friday at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street. A celebration of Elmo's life will be held Friday (immediately following the burial) at the home of Art and Nikki Cracraft, 6371 So. Glen Oaks (850 E.), Murray, until Elmo calls the cows home.
