Major League Baseball Player. He was an infielder for four different teams in the majors, primarily at second base. Hughes played for the Cleveland Indians (1935 to 1937), St. Louis Browns (1938 to 1939), Philadelphia Phillies (1939 to 1940 and 1946), and Chicago Cubs (1944 to 1945). During his nine year career, he had a batting average of .273 with 5 home runs and 205 runs batted in.
