Major League Baseball Player. He played for five teams in thirteen seasons in the major leagues, mostly at third base and outfield, but was a multi-position player at other infield positions too. He made a brief appearance with the Chicago White Sox in 1911, but didn't return to the majors until 1914 with the Chicago Cubs. Johnston spent the majority of his career with the Brooklyn Robins (1916 to 1925) and split his last year (1926) with the Boston Braves and New York Giants. In 5,070 career at bats (in 1,272 games) he hit a respectable .294 with 410 runs batted in. He had 169 stolen bases. He had his best years at the plate from 1921 through 1923 when he batted over .300. He played in the World Series with Brooklyn in 1916 and 1920.
