Clarissa "Chris" Seaman, 94, of Willard died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013.

She was born Aug. 24, 1918, to Alexander and Bertha (née Trader) Strickling in McFarland, W.Va. Clarissa had six brothers, one half-brother and six half-sisters.

When Chris was 4 years old, her mother passed away and she was sent to a children's home in Ashland. Chris lived at the home until she was 17 years old, at which time she moved to a foster home in Shiloh. While at the foster home,
she was required to work a lot of long hours on the farm and never got to finish school.

While living there, she met her neighbor, Dale Seaman. When she turned 21, the two were married. After marriage, they continued to live in the Shiloh area and later the Greenwich area. They went into farming.

In 1950, they had a son, also named Dale. After her husband experienced an illness in 1968, they sold their farm and moved into Greenwich.

Chris always has liked being outside, working in the garden and planting flowers. She also enjoyed visits from her family and friends, watching ball games and playing Bingo.

Chris is survived by her son, Dale (Lou Ann) Seaman of Greenwich; one foster daughter, who also came from a children's home; one grandson; one step-grandson;
one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; several foster grandchildren; and brother, Norman Bash of Mount Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale M. Seaman, in 1973; a grandson in 2000; a foster daughter; five brothers; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.

Visitation will be 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich, where a service will take place 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, with Pastor Ron Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Shiloh.

If desired, memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
