Frank James used his horse Dan, to out-run the law. After Dan passed away, he was buried on the farm. Frank gave tours of the farm to include taking tourist to Dan's grave but as Frank aged, he could not make the walk to Dan's grave so he took Dans horseshoe and planted in the front entrance to the James home. It is located between the open fence at the beginning of the sidewalk leading to the front door of the James house.
