R. Gayle Watson, 82, of Neodesha, Kansas, died Tuesday evening, November 30, 2004, at the Beverly Health and Rehab in Neodesha.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2004, at the First Christian Church under the direction of Penwell Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Pastors DeWayne Prosser and Jim Bell will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.

The daughter of Arthur and Vera (Routh) Eflin, she was born February 26, 1922, in Fredonia, Kansas.

She graduated from Fredonia High School in 1940 and from Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg in 1945. While in college, she was the concert master in the school's orchestra.

She married Donald Watson on December 20, 1946, in Fredonia, Kansas. He survives at Beverly Health and Rehab.

After graduating from college, she taught grade school in Coyville, Kansas. Following the birth of her children, she was a homemaker and was the secretary at the First Christian Church for many years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and a former member of the Neodesha Music Club.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Barry Watson of Neodesha; a daughter, Ronda Quinn of McLouth, Kansas; and one sister, Donna Pope of SolVang, CA; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.
