He was an assistant surgeon in his company and according to F. Terry Hambrecht, M.D. Senior Technical Adviser to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, he was also a hospital steward earlier in the war and he received his M.D. degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA, in 1859.
Glenn served as Hospital Steward, Ward Master, apothecary, then Acting Assistant Surgeon to regiment
