Death of Daniel Ashba
An Old Soldier Passed Away at His Home Here Today.
Daniel Ashba, who was reported to be in a serious condition yesterday afternoon, died at his home, 923 South Third street, at 11:30 o'clock this morning. The cause of his death was stomach trouble and old age. He was 78 years of age the 24th of last September. Mr. Ashba was an old soldier, being a member of Company D, 28th Indiana Volunteers. He had resided in Arkansas City about 20 years and was a highly respected citizen. The deceased leaves three sons and two daughters to mourn his death. They are R.V., W.S., and Daniel Jr., Mrs. John Post and Mrs. Bert Lock, all of this city.
Funeral services will be held from the residence tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. L.M. Riley of the M.E. church will conduct the services and burial will be made in Riverview cemetery.
